Toronto via Fort McMurray, AB renaissance man Ken Farrell heads an ever evolving project called, Gravity Wave. The act started in 2006 as a Playstation produced playlist. With minimal gear, Gravity Wave took to the Toronto scene alluring and amusing crowds with his dancey tunes, poetic prose and peculiar performance gusto. With every show, Gravity Wave morphs into something more than just a one-man, electro-pop band. The act has had a tambourine bashing, singing and dancing eleven year old sideman, a ten piece orchestra, expertly choreographed dance routines, an elaborate variety show presentation complete film accompaniment, an interactive animation show and has even performed as a standard 3-piece rock band.

Now, with two self-released albums behind him (Martyr’s Brigade and Twin Prime Conjecture), Gravity Wave has found a formula that works. The solid structure is composed of Party Leader – Ken Farrell (vocals, guitar), DJ Diamond Stud – Ryan V. Hays (turntables, MPC), Romantic Thief – Finlay Braithwaite (producer, hype man, bass) and Textbook – James Hodgkinson (drums).

Gambol (Fuzzy Logic/Aporia), Gravity Wave’s first release on Fuzzy Logic, is an arty electro-pop album with musical depth. With arrangements carefully crafted by Jason Doell, each song is brimming with the rich brass winds, haunting strings, wistful flutes. The album’s mature production puts focus on strong lyrics full of witticisms and metaphor, all delivered with a slick drawl. At times bouncy and fun (“Popular People”), other times dark, slinky and sexy (“Gimme Every Love You Got”), Gambol’s spectrum is wide.
